How do you ensure good, clean food in a safe environment?
Your safety, health and state of mind are our main priorities. Our cooks love to cook and host, and opt into our hosting guidelines. At Feastly, we believe in the word of mouth (and stomach), and have found our cooks through our exciting network of Feasters and cooks. We follow strict guidelines to make sure every food experience is safe and clean. We personally vet every cook that joins Feastly, which can include home visits and food tastings. Additionally we provide all cooks with access to food handling certification and other documentation. To learn more about food safety, please visiti: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/factsheets/Cooking_for_Groups/index.asp
/>Once a cook or Feaster attends/hosts a meal, he/she can invite someone else to the network. We like to think of ourselves as a big family! See their bios, view their profiles, or reach out with any questions to the cook or contact us at info@eatfeastly.com. -
What about table manners and etiquette? How does Feastly encourage good behavior?
We ask that all Feasters abide by our Guiding Principles. Think of them as a virtual Mom at each meal, making sure that Feasters are on their best behavior. Your virtual Mom is cool with elbows on the table, but please respect the host, the home, and fellow Feasters. Remember, someone is welcoming you into their home.
-
Who are the Feastly cooks?
From the professional chef looking to try out new recipes to the die hard home cook who travels great distances for that perfect ingredient, you will be hard pressed to find a more passionate group of cooks than Feasters. Our cooks love hosting, and sharing meals in their homes. But, don’t just take our word for it, read their bios, see fellow Feasters’ reviews, see the menus, or email them with any questions.
-
How does Feastly address my dietary restrictions and food allergies?
To ensure that you find the right meal for your food lifestyle, Feastly cooks label all meals for those with dietary restrictions and food allergy. As an eater, your profile contains your dietary restrictions and allergies, so cooks are alerted of your food allergies before the meal. You are also always free to connect with the cook directly about any food questions.
-
What is policy on arriving late to a meal?
As a courtesy to our cooks and fellow Feasters, please be on time. We know that things happen, but we ask that you communicate with the cook if you will be over 15 minutes late.
-
What is your refund policy?
For the preparation and planning sanity of our cooks, all cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to the start of a meal. If you have to cancel within 48 hours of the meal, we encourage you to sell or gift your meal to a friend. If you are unable to fill your seat, please let the cook know.
-
How can I be a Feastly cook?
If you’re a chef or passionate cook, drop us an email at info@eatfeastly.com with “Cook” in the subject line. One of our team members will reach out to you shortly. If it’s a good fit, we ask all of our first-time cooks to help a current Feastly cook host a meal. It’s a great way to connect those who love to cook, and introduce you to the Feastly experience.
-
How does Feastly address my safety and the safety of my home?
While hosting people in your home can be one of the greatest things in the world, we want to make sure you can do it safely and soundly. As a cook, you may accept or decline meal RSVPs based on information available to Feastly and third-party social networks. Please use the “decline” button as needed, but don’t abuse it. Remember, Feastly is a community.
-
Can I set house rules?
Of course. Just as Feasters have expectations of you and your delicious food, you should have expectations of Feasters. We ask that you create and share the “Rules of the House”. Whether you are a shoes-off-in-the-home kind of joint or prefer that no politics of religion is discussed at the table, let Feasters know. Your home, your rules.
-
How do I set a fair meal price?
We ask that you make a price determination based on the cost of ingredients and compensation for time spent cooking and cleaning. We encourage you to look at other meals on the site to determine the “market rate” for your delicious goods. Most importantly, be transparent and honest. If you are making Mac and Cheese out of a box, that’s cool, just don’t give it a fancy, French name and charge $75 a person for it.
-
What happens if not enough seats are filled for my meal?
As a cook, you can create the minimum number of seats needed for your meal to occur. If there are not enough Feasters attending, your can cancel or postpone your meal. All paying Feasters, will have their accounts credited.
-
What if I am running late with my cooking?
We ask all that you be ready to serve meals within 15 minutes of the suggested meal start time. We know that things can get hectic in the kitchen, so if you are running late, let Feasters know. They are rooting for you as much as we are, so be open and honest about things. You may just find a Feaster or two who will offer to come help in the kitchen.
-
What happens if I have to cancel the meal?
Please contact Feastly as soon as possible if you have to cancel or reschedule at info@eatfeastly.com with “Cancel” in the subject line.
